Exposed geodes of rhodochrosite in matrix



Measurements:  55 x 40 x 37 mm

Description:  Exposed geodes of rhodochrosite consisting of aggregates of tiny crystals with a lavender colouring, in a conglomerate matrix, unknown to us. 

The rhodochrosite has a few small nicks and damage to the edges.

This specimen was found at N'Chwaning 1 mine in January 2014. It displays well in various positions on a flat surface.

Chemical Composition:  Mn2+(CO3)   (rhodochrosite) 

Hardness on Mohs Scale:   (rhodochrosite)  3.5 - 4     

Location:  N'Chwaning 1, Kalahari Manganese Fields, Kuruman area, South Africa.
