Phantom Quartz Crystals on Matrix – BARG 004

Quartz crystal group with prominent, brick-red phantoms, on matrix

Measurements:  54 x 33 x 32 mm 

Description:  A group of quartz crystals, most of them with very prominent, brick-red phantoms, sit on a conglomorate matrix of quartz and feldspar. The colour of the phantoms is caused by iron oxide having been trapped between layers of quartz growth. 

The largest crystal has no notable damage. There is some damage to some of the edges of the specimen, and a few lesser crystals have broken off.
