Double Terminated Quartz Crystal – BARG 058

Double terminated quartz specimen with shallow phantom

Measurements:  61 x 35 x 23 mm

Description:  A double terminated quartz crystal with light smoky colouring and a very shallow whitish phantom. A few of its shaft and termination surfaces are pitted, where presumably feldspar previously sat partially embedded in the surface, and then eroded away. One small quartz crystal sits about midway on its surface.

The wider termination is a bit clearer than the other side, and one can see some gas and bits of a rusty coloured and black mineral included just below the surface, possibly hematite. Image bottom right taken in natural sunlight.

This is part of a spectacular find of a few years ago. The specimens has a few minute to small nicks.
