Prehnite and Quartz Crystals - NBB 009

Prehnite and quartz crystal group

Measurements:  42 x 39 x 21 mm

Description:  Three clear quartz crystals (the largest 41 mm long and the smallest very small) have a layer of prehnite crystals that cover more than half of the quartz.  The one side of the specimen, totally covered by prehnite,  has minute white crystals on the surface, possibly calcite. The top right photograph was taken in natural sunlight.

The main quartz crystal has a ding on its termination, while the second largest quartz crystal has a flaw. There is some damage to the bottom of the specimen, where it parted from its matrix.
