Quartz Crystal Group with Inclusions - NBB 070

Quartz crystal group with inclusions

Measurements:  42 x 15 x 12 mm

Description:  A flattish quartz crystal (42 x 11 x 05 mm) with several smaller crystals fused together at its base. On closer examination one can see that the main crystal was initially double terminated, but it looks like the small group of crystals grew into the lesser termination (image bottom right). Around midway of the main crystal is a minute, still bubble. The crystal has several minute hematite specks, gas and threads of epidote included. The lesser crystals have several minute (mostly red) hematite specks and threads.

The main crystal has a small blow-out just below the termination, and an extremely minute nick to its termination tip, hardly visible with the naked eye. At the lower end, where the group of small crystals grew into the main crystal, there is some damage, and a few contact marks, and a few minute nicks.
