Bi-Coloured Beryl Crystal – NER 001

Measurements:  38 x 23 x 13 mm

Description:  A bi-coloured beryl crystal from a rare find. 

Part of the surfaces have a thin coating of feldspar. The upper part of the crystal has a yellowish-green colouring, while the bottom part has a blueish colour. 

The termination has a small nick, while the lower part has a few contact marks.

Weight of Specimen:  20.6 g

Chemical Composition:  Be₃Al₂Si₆O₁₈  (beryl)
                                        KAlSi₃O₈ (feldspar) 

Hardness on Mohs Scale:  (beryl)  7.5 - 8
                                           (feldspar)  6 - 6.5

Location:  Erongo Region, Namibia.
