Demantoid Garnets on Feldspar – NER 034

Measurements:  51 x 37 x 12 mm 

Description:  Small, gemmy, drusy andradite (variety demantoid) garnets sit on a thin slab of feldspar. 

Some of the crystals, mostly to the edges, are damaged.

Weight of Specimen:  37.8 g

Chemical Composition:  Ca₃Fe³₂⁺(SiO₄)₃  (garnets)
                                       KAlSi₃O₈  (feldspar)   

Hardness on Mohs Scale:  (garnets)  6.5-7
                                          (feldspar)  6 - 6.5

Location:  Erongo, Namibia.
