Inesite Crystals on Matrix – SKMF 049

Measurements:  61 x 31 x 30 mm

Description:  Sprays of small inesite crystals with a few small crystals of (?)calcite, sit on a thin (to us, unknown) matrix. The bottom left image shows the bottom of the specimen. 

The only notable damage is to the edges of the specimen.

Chemical Composition:  Ca₂Mn²₇⁺Si₁₀O₂₈(OH)₂•5H₂O  (inesite)
 
Hardness on Mohs Scale:  6  (inesite)

Location:  N'Chwaning 2 mine, Kalahari Manganese Fields, Kuruman area, Northern Cape, South Africa.
