Minute rhodochrosite crystals in geodes, on matrix

Measurements:  53 x 24 x 20 mm

Description:  A specimen with two small geodes lined with minute, sparkling botryoidal rhodochrosite crystals with a pink to light lavender colouring, on matrix. 

The specimen comes from a pocket that was found in January 2014 at the N'Chwaning 1 mine, Kalahari Manganese Fields.

There is some damage to the edges of the geodes and small (3rd) area with rhodochrosite.

Weight of Specimen:  24.4 g

Chemical Composition:  MnCO3  (rhodochrosite)

Hardness on Mohs Scale:  (rhodochrosite)  

Location:  N'Chwaning 1 mine, Kalahari Manganese Fields, Kuruman area, South Africa.
