Quartz Group with Hematite – SNCO 018

Hematite covered quartz group with unusual growth patterns

Measurements:  55 x 46 x 33 mm

Description:  A group of quartz crystals with very unusual growth patterns, including more than one generation of quartz growth, sceptres and several partially exposed phantoms, all coated with iron oxide (hematite).

The bottom of the group is beautifully crystallized. On closer examination, one sees that it is mostly the secondary termination points of the crystals, which are double terminated. The iron oxide coating is limited in this area.

The specimen has a few pressure and contact marks and nicks. One of the termination points has a nick and two lesser crystals have broken off.

It displays well on a flat surface, all-round and in various positions.
