Measurements: 50 x 15 x 35 mm Description: A group of quartz crystals with some reddish-brown hematite colouring, sits on a quartz and feldspar matrix. A small, dark purple fluorite crystal is attached to one of the crystals, and near the base are a few small phantom quartz crystals. On closer examination via a loupe, one can see that this specimen has been formed in at least three stages of quartz growth, with two layers of hematite colouring captured between the quartz layers. So the bigger crystals have phantoms although it is not easily seen at first glance. The final outer layer of quartz is very thin, exposing the hematite coating in several places along the shafts. The
terminations of the crystals are in a very good condition. The matrix
has a few
flaws and the remains of two broken crystals. The specimen has a few
pressure
marks towards the back and base, and some damage in the lower area. Weight of Specimen: 39.5 g Chemical
