mm Description: An
unusually shaped quartz crystal from the well-known (now
non-functional)
Jan Coetzee copper mine. The
crystal has multiple facets, with the front having pinkish
inclusions
(?unknown mineral) and the back of the specimen having the typical
green
chlorite coating, and patches of minute calcite crystals, as well as
several
small quartz crystals with chlorite inclusions. There are
also a few
pieces of metallic mineral (?) attached on the surface. The
crystal has very little damage; even the bottom is relatively intact
(see
bottom photograph, right). This is a
beautiful display specimen from this area.
